Spotlight on snowdrops: Highdown Gardens
The 2024 Snowdrop and Spring Flower garden openings will see over 100 gardens open for the National Garden Scheme throughout January and February, all boasting the first signs of spring – none more so than Highdown Gardens in Worthing, West Sussex which opens on Thursday 15th February (10am-4.30pm).
Created by botanist and horticulturalist Sir Frederick Stern, Highdown Gardens offers 8½ acres of stunning informal gardens on Downland countryside overlooking the sea – and is home to a National Plant Collection of rare plants and trees adapted to live on chalk throughout the year.
In 2023, the garden will open especially for the Snowdrop Festival on Wednesday 15th February (10am-4.30pm)

Visitors get the unique opportunity to hear all about their diverse collection of plants and the impressive range of snowdrops on show really is a tonic, and a welcome reminder of the changing of seasons. Visiting Highdown Gardens, or any other snowdrop garden open over the next month or so, really is the perfect opportunity to blow away the cobwebs and enjoy a lovely day out.”
